Meet the Chapter Officers
President - Janet Anderson
Janet is the President for the section, representing SWE in the community, and responsible for communications with National SWE. She is a BS ChE graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and has an MBA from the University of Delaware. She supports SAP in manufacturing at Chemours.
Janet likes that one is in the majority at SWE events (unlike most of her positions throughout her career). And she likes the friends she has made. It has been interesting to watch the growth of SWE and the see many young women enter the field.
Janet is part of the sailing crew of the Tall Ship of Delaware, the Kalmar Nyckel, in addition to serving on boards of other historical Swedish groups in the area.

Susan serves as the Vice President for the section and fills in for the President, as needed. She has a BS and MChE in chemical engineering, both from Rice University in Houston, Texas. Susan is an Engineering Manager for DuPont in Wilmington.
Susan appreciates SWE because the organization links working engineering role models with student engineers; brings new ideas for leadership and education into the engineering profession. Susan lived in Shanghai, China for approximately 5 years during a period of rapid growth and expansion at DuPont. |
As Treasurer for the section, Vicki Land keeps track of section’s financial responsibilities, including annual reports, donations, and scholarship disbursements. She obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems Concentration) in 1993 from the University of Delaware. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of industries, such as paper manufacturing, textile manufacturing and the electrical utility. Currently, she is working for and currently works for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) Environmental Services department preparing Sustainability and Renewable Energy Portfolio reports for three utilities.
Vicki has been a member of SWE since college and in 1999 was a founding member of the DelMar Peninsula Section, along with Janet Anderson and Nancy Hunley. Vicki loves SWE because it allows her the opportunity to manage outreach projects outside of the office environment. Presently, she is mentoring the Padua Academy Robotics team – The X-Squared Factor.
At Christmas, Vicki’s house in Newark, Delaware is decorated with nearly 100,000 lights that are synchronized to holiday tunes and “Let It Go”. Visit her website at www.circuitcircus.net

As Secretary for the section, Simone records minutes of leadership meetings and sends out minutes, communications, and schedules of events to local section membership. She has a BA in Chemistry from New College of Florida in Sarasota and later obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Simone is currently a Research and Development Chemist at Agilent Technologies.
SWE gives Simone a chance to broaden my horizons by interacting with women in a wide variety of technical disciplines and with a range of applications for that knowledge. It seems like every conversation I have teaches me something new! Simone loves music and is currently both a board member and a singing member of the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware. |
